Galilee, Israel
Nazareth, in the Galilee region, is venerated as the town where Jesus grew up, and is home to the Basilica of the Annunciation, the largest church building in the Middle East.
The Basilica of the Annunciation marks the site traditionally associated with the Angel Gabriel's announcement to Mary, making Nazareth a key stop on Holy Land pilgrimage itineraries alongside Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
A church has stood on the site since the Byzantine era, with the current basilica completed in 1969, built over the remains of earlier Crusader and Byzantine churches.
March–May and September–November for comfortable travel conditions across the wider Galilee region.
